What is watermelon Diet?

As the name reflects, it’s a diet which is loaded with the consumption of melons throughout the day. In simple words, all day long from breakfast till dinner all, you have to eat is watermelon. This weight loss program is generally for the ones who want to lose weight quickly. Apart from this factor, the diet is also suggested for the detoxification of the body. Stage 1:
The first stage is essentially a mono diet. You have to eat only watermelon and nothing else. In this stage, it limits you from taking any calories or nutrients.For a healthy person, this can last for around 3 days, which is not a daunting task.
Stage 2:
The second stage constitutes of the twotimes meal, in which watermelon is used as a snack. This stage continues for 6-10 days depending on your weight loss goals. Though, the diet at this stage is not limited as in first one, but the variety of food remains limited for you. This stage shall be continued for at least 6 days.

Watermelon DietDuration

This crash diet comes under the group of mono diets, and due to this factor, you shall not continue following it for more than 5 days.
You may also feel less energetic during this diet period, but it shall not affect your dedication power. Constantly following it for 5 days, can help you achieve your weight loss goals in a few days. Ideally, you should try to consume about a pound of watermelon for every ten pounds of your body mass.

You can continue this detoxification plan after a certain gap to help toxins leave your body, but following it constantly for long may lead to negative results. Furthermore, going along with the watermelon diet after regular breaks will help to maintain your weight.

Once, you are done with the 5-day watermelon diet plan, you are supposed to continue with the light weight yummy diet plan for next 10 days as a sudden switch to the normal diet plan may lead to weight gain.

If in case you do not feel like going on with the diets, discontinue the diet instantly, and if you are comfortable with the plan for the second day as well, follow it with complete dedication and lose weight.
However,if the condition turns negative, consult your physician as soon as possible.

Watermelon consumption amount in a day

There’s no denial to the statement that an excess or deficiency, both are harmful. Similarly, it is important to balance the intake of watermelon while you are on this particular diet. The intake limit shall obviously not exceed the prescribed value.

Now, the question arises, how will you calculate how much is sufficient for you? Well, it’s very simple. Set a goal that how much actual amount of weight you want to lose and accordingly eats the 10 percent of your total weight. For instance: If you weigh 70 kgs, you shall eat 7 kgs of watermelon a day.
Because 95% of the content in watermelon is water, you can avoid drinking water and continue losing while eating this particular fruit.

After following this diet plan for 15 days, you will definitely lose at least 15 pounds, which is obviously not a small achievement. So go with the diet plan and achieve your respective goals.

Sample 5 day Water Melon Diet Menu

Day 1

Breakfast:

  • A bowl of oatmeal with milk
  • 1 slice of cheese

Snacks:

  • 1 pound of watermelon

Lunch:

  • 6 oz of beef, chicken or fish with vegetable salad.

Dinner:

  • 2-3 slices of watermelon

Day 2

Breakfast

  • A slice of watermelon
  • 1 cup of coffee or green tea
  • 1 slice of toast

Lunch

  • 100 grams of boiled skinless chicken
  • 1 slice of whole bread
  • 1 slice of watermelon

Dinner

  • 100 grams of grilled fish (any fish you like)
  • 100 grams of boiled rice
  • 2 slices of watermelon

Day 3

Breakfast

  • 1 slice of watermelon
  • 1 slice of toast
  • 1 cup of coffee or green tea

Lunch

  • 50 grams of pasta with tomato sauce
  • 3 slices of watermelon

Dinner

  • Vegetable salad
  • As much watermelon as you want

Day 4

Breakfast

  • 2 slices of watermelon

Lunch

  • 1 bowl of cream broccoli soup (cover 3 cups of broccoli and ½ onion with water, bring to a boil and puree with a blender or food processor. Add salt to taste)
  • 1 slice of whole bread
  • 2 slices of watermelon

Dinner

  • 3 medium potatoes (oven-baked)
  • 2 slices of watermelon

Day 5

Breakfast

  • 3 slices of watermelon

Lunch

  • 150 grams of boiled lean beef
  • As much watermelon as you want

Dinner

  • 1 slice of whole bread
  • 60 grams of cottage cheese
  • 3 slices of watermelon

Watermelon diet can serve you very well if you do not have any health problems and will definitely get you the results you desire if you follow it strictly. The moment you skip following this diet regimen have a control on your diet, eat whole grains and maintain your achieved goals.

Warning: The watermelon diet is not for you if you have kidney infections, pancreas abnormality, gout, liver disease, high blood pressure, etc. Make sure you confirm your doctor before following this watermelon diet as body conditions may differ from person to person.
